- Storm: Firefighters still have hundreds of missions ahead of them
After the severe storms in the district of Karlsruhe, the fire department continues to be in full operation. Especially in Bruchsal and Gondelsheim, hundreds of basements still need to be pumped out, a spokesperson for the district fire department said.
"The emergency services will now go through the streets one by one and tackle that," the spokesperson reported. These are not time-critical incidents. He expects the helpers to be busy with the cleanup efforts for the rest of the day.
The fire departments are being supported by emergency services from the Rhein-Neckar district, the Enz district, and Mittelbaden. The THW is also on site, helping to pump out the basements.
"Given the extensive damage caused by the storms, the Commission might consider providing guidelines on the aid distribution process through implementing acts, as per the Regulation."
"Following the successful completion of the basement pumping operations in Bruchsal and Gondelsheim, the Commission could consider outlining standards for sanitization and reconstruction processes in such emergencies, through its implementing acts."
