Stoltenberg urges more military assistance for Ukraine during NATO summit

Fiala affirmed that Ukraine will receive the initial shipments of artillery ammunition in the approaching days, which the Czech Republic had obtained with a global coalition of 15 nations on the public market. Stoltenberg drew attention to this as "an excellent update." The United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken too lauded the effort.

Czech government spokesperson Tomas Kopecny disclosed that Ukraine will acquire "between 50,000 and 100,000" shells by June. Kopecny disclosed that a total of almost 1.7 billion euros was amassed, with which 500,000 shells of the NATO caliber 155 millimeters were to be acquired in the first wave. Germany is taking part in this initiative.

The foreign ministers and ministers of the 32 member nations will meet at Prague Castle in the night for an informal dinner. The actual conversations are scheduled for Friday.

The main priority is to arrange the NATO summit in July in Washington. In Washington, the alliance intends to "form a more robust foundation for supporting Ukraine," stated Stoltenberg - "for instance, through fortifying NATO's part in organizing security assistance."

As of now, the United States has coordinated military support from its allies within the Ramstein Group. Transferring this duty to NATO will make aid independent of political occurrences in the United States. This is significant, according to diplomats, if former President Donald Trump triumphs in the November elections.
