Two intoxicated young men caused havoc in Alfeld, Landkreis Hildesheim, using a stolen forklift for a nighttime joyride. The hilarity ended when the forklift crashed into a gas station, causing approximately 10,000 euros worth of damage to the building facade. Police received reports about an unlit forklift driving on the streets of Schlangenlinien at around that time. Minutes later, the accident occurred at the gas station. Authorities arrested the culprits - a 21 and 24-year-old - who were both heavily under the influence. Eyewitnesses and CCTV footage suggest that the 21-year-old was behind the forklift's wheel during the incident and a blood test has been ordered for further investigation.
