VfL Bochum's main player, Kevin Stöger, will no longer be with the team after their successful Bundesliga relegation. On Monday, the 30-year-old Austrian said goodbye to VfL fans through an Instagram post. He hasn't yet disclosed which team he'll be joining next. According to a report on the Funke Media Group's news channel X (formerly Twitter), Stöger is transferring to league contender Borussia Mönchengladbach. "I'll be leaving the club, and I hope you'll welcome me back next year at the game in Bochum," Stöger said in a video message.

Stöger came to Bochum from FSV Mainz 05 in 2022. In 110 games, Stöger scored 21 goals and assisted on 28 others. In the standard time of the relegation match between Fortuna Düsseldorf and VfL Bochum, he scored the 3:0 goal and contributed to the setup for the other two.
