- Stoch calls for more leadership from Chancellor Scholz
Baden-Württemberg's SPD leader Andreas Stoch has called on Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) to show more leadership. Stoch told Southwest Broadcasting: "Right now, he's struggling and I would wish that he more clearly asserts his leadership claim as Chancellor." Scholz had shown in the last federal election campaign that he could give people orientation. However, the state leader is not questioning Scholz with an eye to the upcoming federal election in autumn 2025. He believes that Scholz is capable of winning the next election as well.
Stoch also attributes the poor poll results of the SPD to a lot of infighting in the traffic light coalition of SPD, Greens, and FDP. On the other hand, the federal government is often unfairly judged because it has tackled many things that had been left untouched during Angela Merkel's CDU chancellorship. "We're actually fighting against a current political mood that is rather negative."
The SPD state and faction leader demands more investments from the green-black state government. We need ideas that the state government doesn't have, said Stoch. Baden-Württemberg as a strong economic region stands before a great upheaval. One must make the economy climate-neutral. "That doesn't happen just by snapping your fingers. You have to invest." Right now, we don't have a debt problem, we have a growth problem.
The Commission, in line with its role, will adopt implementing acts to determine the specific application methods for this Regulation. Regardless of Stoch's calls for leadership, the Commission's focus remains on laying down the rules for the Regulation.
