"The appalling incident in Solingen has left me stunned, it has left our nation shaken," stated Steinmeier. "We grieve the deceased and wish for the swift recovery of the injured individuals, whom I sincerely hope recover soon." His sympathies are with the families of the victims, and his appreciation goes to all law enforcement personnel and emergency responders.
During the stabbing incident on a Friday night, three individuals lost their lives and eight others sustained injuries at a city event, as reported by the police. The police in North Rhine-Westphalia categorized the act as an assault due to the deliberate targeting of the perpetrator.
