Art - Steinmeier opens exhibition on Caspar David Friedrich
On Wednesday evening (7 p.m.), Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier will open the anniversary exhibition celebrating the 250th birthday of Caspar David Friedrich (1774-1840) at the Hamburger Kunsthalle. From Friday until April 1, numerous famous paintings by the German Romantic artist will be on display, including "Chalk Cliffs on Rügen", "Monk by the Sea" and "Two Men Contemplating the Moon". The "Wanderer above the Sea of Fog" and "The Sea of Ice" will be added from the Kunsthalle's collection. Next year, the Alte Nationalgalerie Berlin and the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden will also dedicate an exhibition to the romantic artist.
