A 58-year-old woman from Bavaria was heavily injured by a stone block while mountain biking in Tyrol. According to the police, she was hit by a stone about 50 cm by 50 cm in size on her shin. The woman fell and collided with her 65-year-old companion. The woman from the Landkreis Forchheim was seriously injured, while the man was lightly hurt.
It was later discovered that the stone block had dislodged further up on a forest road in the municipality of Mieders during excavation work on a Saturday. The stone had rolled 70 meters downhill.
According to the police, the woman was treated by the mountain rescue team and taken to the hospital. The 65-year-old man was able to cycle down the mountain trail independently.
