Cinema announcement - "Steckerlfischfiasko": Eberhofer case to be made into a movie
Once again, a murder in Niederkaltenkirchen: Another novel in the Eberhofer series by author Rita Falk is to be filmed. Constantin Film announced on a Friday the filming for 2025, and the film named "Steckerlfischfiasko" is expected to come to cinemas in the summer of 2026. For a while, it was uncertain that this series of novels would be filmed.
The novel and film series revolve around Franz Eberhofer (Sebastian Bezzel), a self-reliant village policeman from the Bavarian province, who, along with his partner Rudi Birkenberger (Simon Schwarz), keeps getting involved in shady investigations - this time into the murder of the local Steckerlfischking. And then there's also his family, whose motto is chaos - this time Eberhofer's partner Susi (Lisa Maria Potthoff) wants to become mayor.
According to Constantin Film, a total of 10.6 million people have seen the films of the Bavarian series in the cinema so far. The creator of the Eberhofer series is Rita Falk, her book series consists of twelve volumes. A 13th case is expected to be published in 2025, which Falk had announced shortly before her 60th birthday at the end of May.
According to the latest filming, Falk distanced herself from the script with clear words. "I find the script incredibly flat, trashy, and in some places even ordinary," she told the "Spiegel" magazine at the cinema release of the film "Rehragout-Rendezvous" in 2023. At that time, according to Falk, there was no contract with Constantin for "Steckerlfischfiasko" yet, only for two older, unfilmed books. Shortly thereafter, however, both sides emphasized their good cooperation.
Now the author Falk is also quoted in the announcement of the filming: "There's probably no one who's more excited about the new film 'Steckerlfischfiasko' than I am myself. Or how Franz might put it: come and see, then it'll sizzle for you too..."
