National Youth Advisory Council - State Youth Advisory Council founded - advising the government
Rhineland-Palatinate now has a State Youth Council - according to the state government, the first of its kind nationwide. "It's time that youth participation becomes self-evident on all political levels," said Youth State Secretary Janosch Litteg (Greens) after the constituent assembly in Mainz.
Initially, the council consists of 16 young people. It is open to children and youth between the ages of 12 and 21. Some come from organized interest representations such as the State Pupils' Representative Council or the Youth Sports. Four official meetings are planned every year.
The State Youth Council will advise the state government on child and youth policy matters and can also take up issues itself over the state government, said Litteg. "Effective participation of young people contributes to the fact that they can experience and influence democratic decision-making processes." This strengthens the consciousness of democracy.
The ministry supports the council with a business office, which is located at the Institute for Media and Education.
Janosch Litteg, the Youth State Secretary from Rhineland-Palatinate, was instrumental in establishing the first State Youth Council nationwide. This council, based in Mainz, comprises young individuals from various backgrounds, including organizations like the State Pupils' Representative Council and Youth Sports. Janosch believes that the council's role is not only to advise the state government on child and youth policy but also to proactively take up issues, fostering the active participation of young people in democratic processes.
