Children's hospice in Stralsund - State supports the construction of a children's hospice in Stralsund
Mecklenburg-Vorpommern supports the construction of the first stationary children and youth hospice in the state with one million Euro, securing the necessary equity for the project in Stralsund. "For this important project, the state government is making available a unique one million Euro, to fill a financing gap", said Social Minister Stefanie Drese (SPD) to the German Press Agency. The financing is to come from the state budget via so-called boosting funds.
The Kinder- und Jugendhospiz Leuchtturm e.V. association has already collected 850,000 Euro in earmarked donations. With the one million Euro from the state, the planned equity contribution of 20% is covered. The total construction costs are estimated at 9.2 million Euro.
"We are calculating with a construction start in April 2025", said project leader Yvonne Werner of the association. The building application has already been submitted.
The construction of the children's hospice in Stralsund is a significant social affair in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, supported by the state with a million Euro. This funding is crucial for the project, as it bridges a financial gap and allows the Kinder- und Jugendhospiz Leuchtturm e.V. association to meet their 20% equity contribution. The children who require care in this hospice hail from various parts of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, including cities like Schwerin.
