- State security investigated for anti-Israel smear campaign
Unknown individuals have left anti-Israeli graffiti in Berlin-Spandau not once, but twice. In both instances, the State Protection Police of the State Criminal Office has taken over the investigations, as reported by the Berlin Police. Initially, the police were called to the Lindenufer Memorial at the Sternberg Promenade in the early morning, which commemorates the Spandau Synagogue destroyed by the Nazis in 1938 and the Spandau Jews murdered during the Nazi regime.
There, they found an anti-Israeli inscription and a red triangle pointing downwards, a symbol associated with the terrorist organization Hamas. Shortly afterwards, an employee of the security service discovered red graffiti on the facade of the Spandau Town Hall in Am Wall street, including the demand "Free Gaza" and two Hamas triangles.
The employee of the security service reported the damage. There are no concrete leads on the perpetrators so far. It is also not certain whether the same perpetrators are responsible for both incidents, which is part of the ongoing investigations.
The State Protection Police is also investigating the anti-Israeli graffiti found on the Am Wall street facade of the Spandau Town Hall, which features the Hamas symbols and the phrase "Free Gaza." According to reports, the LKA (German Federal Criminal Police Office) has been involved in coordinating these investigations due to the potential involvement of international extremist groups.
