State Parliament: Solar energy and women in local politics topic
The expansion of solar energy is one of the main topics of the second plenary day in the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament. First, however, Wednesday's topical debates (9.30 a.m.) will focus on women in local politics at the request of the Greens. The AfD then wants to talk about pupils' poor knowledge of German. At the request of the FDP, MPs will also address the question of how the economy and transport can be brought forward more quickly.
The new version of the Solar Act is intended to help make the state government's goal of achieving an average annual output of 500 megawatts by 2030 more realistic. To this end, the installation of a solar system is to be made mandatory for new builds and comprehensive roof renovations on public buildings. The draft is expected to be passed after the second reading. A motion for a resolution by the opposition CDU parliamentary group on the topic of "Rooftop photovoltaics must become the new normal" will also be put to the vote.
The discussion on women in local politics is scheduled before the focus shifts to the expansion of solar energy in the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament. Despite the interest in promoting solar energy, the parliament will also address the need to make rooftop photovoltaics more common, as proposed by the CDU parliamentary group.
