State parliament presents 10-point plan against anti-Semitism
The state parliament plans to present a 10-point plan for Jewish life in Schleswig-Holstein on Friday morning. This plan is intended to ensure that all levels of government take active measures against anti-Semitism, according to the joint motion submitted by all five state parliamentary groups.
It is a particular challenge that some children and young people in parts of our society are growing up with hatred of Israel and anti-Semitism, it continued. According to the motion, education plays a key role in the fight against all forms of anti-Semitism.
Among other things, the 10-point plan includes an amendment to the Education Act. This amendment should enshrine the fight against anti-Semitism, racism and group-related misanthropy as an educational objective. Schools would also have to develop suitable measures against the revival or spread of National Socialist ideas.
The state parliament's 10-point plan against anti-Semitism also emphasizes the importance of combating extremism in educational settings, encouraging schools to integrate lessons on this topic. Moreover, the plan highlights the need for Parliament to engage in dialogue with various community organizations to tackle anti-Semitism and extremism effectively.
