The Bavarian state parliament revoked the immunity of two AfD (Alternative for Germany) faction members. According to information from the German Press Agency, those affected are the interim faction leader Ingo Hahn and the newly elected representative Ramona Storm. The names were not mentioned during the mandatory immunity vote in the plenary session on Wednesday. A identical recommendation from the Legal and Constitutional Affairs Committee had been made two weeks prior.

Details about the reasons for the immunity revocation were not initially known. In general, this is usually connected to investigations by the public prosecutor's office. They then request the revocation from the parliament.

Deputies enjoy special protection from investigations by the justice system. This protection is intended to shield mandate holders, in particular, from politically motivated lawsuits. If the public prosecutor has corresponding indications that justify investigations, a revocation of immunity is requested.

Hahn has been a member of the Landtag since the first entry of the AfD in 2018. From 2019 to 2021, he was also one of the faction leaders. In the AfD, he has been a member since 2014. The promoted landscape ecologist is a professor at the University of Applied Sciences Munich for Geography, Geoecology and Cartography. In the faction, he is the spokesperson for environmental and science policy and one of the deputy faction leaders.

Storm has been a member of the AfD since 2018, and was elected to the Landtag in 2023. The former nurse from Unterfranken attracted attention before the Landtag election with bizarre statements about the Earth being a disc: In the "Main-Echo," she stated that she could not definitively judge whether the Earth was flat. In the faction, she is the spokesperson for the processing of the Corona diktat (dictatorship) according to the AfD.

The revision of immunity for two AfD members by the Bavarian state parliament was also sought by the public prosecutor's office, due to ongoing investigations. This move affects Bavarian parliamentarians Ingo Hahn and Ramona Storm, who lost their immunity despite not being named during the plenary session. The AfD, with Hahn as its former faction leader and Storm as its Corona diktat spokesperson, will now face potential legal consequences.
