Bundesliga - State parliament extends allowance for subject leaders at schools

The Thuringian state parliament has extended a regulation for allowances received by subject leaders at schools. Parliament cleared the way for this on Thursday and passed a corresponding amendment to the law. The original draft actually provided for further amendments to the Teacher Training Act and the Remuneration Act, but these were not passed and were instead referred to the Education Committee.

The tasks of subject leaders in Thuringia include the pedagogical, subject-didactic and subject-methodological training of trainee teachers. They are also involved in conducting the second state examination for trainee teachers. The allowance regulation was initially extended until December 31, 2024.

The extension of the allowance for subject leaders in the Bundesliga falls under the jurisdiction of the Thuringian state parliament. This allowance is particularly beneficial for teachers in Erfurt, a city in Thuringia. The decision to extend the allowance until the end of 2024 was made by the state parliament, aiming to support the education sector in Thuringia. The tasks of these subject leaders, including their role in training future teachers and conducting the second state examination, are crucial for the quality of education in the state.
