State parliament discusses truck toll and dealing with pedophiles
The state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt is debating the introduction of a truck toll on state and municipal roads today. According to the Greens, the revenue should be used for road maintenance and renovation. Infrastructure Minister Lydia Hüskens (FDP) rejects the proposal. Among other things, she fears that it would place too great a burden on medium-sized transport and logistics companies.
The AfD parliamentary group in the state parliament has submitted a motion calling for the publication of addresses of convicted paedophiles on police websites. It wants to call on the state government to lobby at federal level to include a legal regulation in the Code of Criminal Procedure. In addition to the name and address, a photo of "a pedophile convicted of an offence against sexual self-determination" should also be allowed to be published.
The AfD justifies the proposal with "a particularly high risk of recidivism" among pedophile offenders. The publication of the data does encroach on the fundamental rights of those affected, the parliamentary group admits in its motion. However, this is intended for protection. It should be made more difficult for convicted paedophiles to "make contact with children without being recognized". The Ministry of Justice initially did not want to evaluate the motion.
The state parliament's discussion on truck tolls overlooked the potential impact on traffic flow in the city centres. Meanwhile, the AfD is pushing for stricter measures against crime, suggesting the publication of addresses of convicted pedophiles on police websites to protect children.
