Current hour - State parliament continues deliberations

The state parliament in Schwerin will continue its deliberations on Thursday (09:00). At the request of the opposition CDU, the increase in the citizens' allowance planned by the federal government will be debated during the current hour. The CDU/CSU considers the increase in state payments to those in need to be too high and fears that it will create false incentives and make it more difficult to find a job.

Final deliberations and votes on legislative amendments are also on the agenda. For example, the financial equalization between the state and local authorities is to be revised, paving the way for a multi-million euro school construction programme, among other things. The store opening law will also be put to the vote. Among other things, the amendment is intended to allow additional Sundays open for business in places of tourist importance.

The new daycare law, which aims to reduce group sizes in daycare centers, will be discussed at first reading. Instead of 15 children per specialist, there are to be 14 in future. Auxiliary staff with several years of experience in daycare centers should be able to be more involved in the care of children.
