Andres Mundt, the president of the Federal Cartel Office, commented in a statement, "CTK in southeast Brandenburg holds significant market shares because there are only sparse competitors in the area. However, no more market shares are being gained here, as the state of Brandenburg has not been involved in the hospital industry until now." The statement continued, emphasizing that public, private, and municipal hospital operators shouldn't be at a disadvantage compared to university clinics.
The government of Brandenburg is looking to establish a medical university in Lusatia and the first students are expected to start in 2026. Over the next 12 years, approximately 3.7 billion euros will be invested into this project - with more than half of the money coming from the federal government.
