Nature - State Garden Show in Wangen is slowly taking shape
Preparations for the State Garden Show in Wangen are in full swing. There are still a few construction sites, but they are well on schedule, said a spokeswoman for the town in the Allgäu region. More than 60,000 flower bulbs were planted in the ground last week, including different varieties of tulips. 5,000 season tickets for the State Garden Show have already been sold.
The city is hoping for around 500,000 visitors between April 26 and October 6. Retailers and restaurants are also already full of anticipation, said the spokeswoman.
During the 164 days of the State Garden Show, flowers will be presented on 3500 square meters. Ten show gardens and 12 colorful flower shows are planned. The site covers a total area of 40 hectares - the equivalent of more than 50 soccer pitches. One of the top acts scheduled to perform at the garden show is Italian entertainer and singer Giovanni Zarella. He is scheduled to perform on August 11.
Next on the agenda is the construction of a wooden viewing platform, said the spokeswoman. New bridges and cycle paths are also to be built as part of the construction work. Those responsible expect the construction work to be completed on time. "The garden show professionals always say: the gates open at the front, the excavators drive out at the back."
