State funds "Dünenwelten" in Grömitz with 8.3 million euros
The state of Schleswig-Holstein is funding the new "Dünenwelten" multifunctional building in the Baltic seaside resort of Grömitz in the district of Ostholstein with 8.3 million euros. This is intended to extend the season in the state and further expand tourism, said Economics Minister Claus Ruhe Madsen (CDU) on Wednesday. The new multifunctional building will reportedly house an indoor play world, a restaurant area, a bowling alley and event rooms. The Dünenwelten is one of two subsidized projects in the new dune park.
The municipality is pleased that the state is funding the last important construction phase of the dune park with 70 percent of the total costs, said the mayor of Grömitz, Sebastian Rieke. Without the funding, the realization of this project would not have been possible for the municipality, he said. The state had already funded the first part of the dune park with more than 6.5 million euros.
The municipalities in the region can anticipate an influx of tourists due to the state-funded "Dünenwelten" project in Grömitz, enhancing regional tourism. The local Grömitz municipality is grateful for the state's financial contribution, as it was crucial in making the final phase of the dune park construction possible.
