Civil protection - State calls for the purchase of disaster control vehicles

Rhineland-Palatinate municipalities will receive 869,000 euros from the state for the procurement of 17 vehicles for medical, support and catering services in disaster control. "Time and again, it becomes clear how important a well-functioning disaster control service is," explained Interior Minister Michael Ebling (SPD) in Mainz on Tuesday. The medical, care and catering service units are set up by the districts and independent cities and are mostly operated by the aid organizations active in Rhineland-Palatinate.

The aim of the funding program launched in 2007 is to establish structures that are as uniform as possible, the Minister of the Interior announced. Over the coming years, the equipment of the local authorities in disaster control is to be further modernized and adapted to current requirements.
