Weather - State agency warns of limited winter service
The State Office for Road Construction and Transport (LBV) has warned that winter services will be severely restricted in some areas on Wednesday. According to the LBV, this is due to a strike call by the unions in the road maintenance depots.
However, an emergency service agreement had been concluded with the Verdi trade union to ensure that all maintenance depots were manned. This means that the winter service can be regulated, but not fully guaranteed.
"The right to strike is a valuable asset in Germany," said LBV Director Frank Quirmbach. The LBV fully understands this and will do everything in its power to keep the roads as free of snow and ice as possible. Road users were asked to drive carefully.
According to the LBV, the absence of the striking employees will be compensated for as far as possible by an external company. However, depending on the weather conditions, this will not be possible in all areas.
