Start of the ski season in Altenberg: other ski resorts follow suit
After plenty of fresh snow, Saxony is ringing in the ski season. It starts on Friday in Altenberg in the Osterzgebirge. The lifts will open there at 10.00 am. Over the past few days, the slopes have been covered with artificial snow in addition to the natural snow, so that the pistes can be well prepared, as the operator informed dpa on request.
Preparations are also in full swing elsewhere. "We are going full throttle wherever possible," Oberwiesenthal's mayor Jens Benedict (non-party) told the German Press Agency. He is targeting the weekend of the second Advent as the start. The main slope could possibly open a few days earlier. By the second Advent, skiing fun should also be in full swing in the neighboring ski area on the Keilberg on the Czech side. The homepage lists December 8 as the start date.
In Eibenstock, the winter weather of the past few days has brought great joy. This weekend, however, skiers on the Adlerfelsen will not yet get their money's worth. According to the operator, the plan is to start skiing in the middle or end of next week.
Leisure time during the winter in these municipalities is filled with excitement as they all prepare for the upcoming ski season. With Altenberg leading the way, other ski resorts, such as Oberwiesenthal and the ski area on the Keilberg, are also Ready to offer winter sports, including tourism activities, to visitors seeking leisure time in the snow.
