"Starliner" achieves successful manned test flight to the International Space Station.

The "Starliner," a manned spacecraft from Boeing, finally achieved a successful launch after years of delays and multiple failed attempts. Despite some issues, the spacecraft successfully transported two NASA astronauts to the International Space Station (ISS).

The astronauts, Barry Wilmore and Suni Williams, are scheduled to spend about a week at the ISS. However, their journey to the station was not without its share of problems. During the flight, the "Starliner" encountered engine issues, which forced it to attempt docking with the ISS twice. Fortunately, the astronauts were able to dock successfully in the second attempt, according to live footage from the US space agency NASA. Prior to the flight, two new helium leaks had occurred. While an earlier helium leak was deemed safe by NASA, this new leak prompted monitoring of all three leaks, with valves being closed to maintain stability.

The "Starliner," which consists of a crew capsule for the astronauts and a service module for the spacecraft, took off for its first manned test flight on Wednesday. US Vice President Kamala Harris described it as a "significant milestone for manned spaceflight." The flight itself had been postponed several times due to a variety of technical issues with both the spacecraft and the rocket.

The "Starliner" made its first successful unmanned flight to the ISS in May 2022, where it stayed for four days, testing the craft's capabilities. It is intended to serve as an alternative to the "Crew Dragon" space capsule from SpaceX in transporting astronauts to the ISS. However, the "Starliner" project has fallen significantly behind schedule, with the "Crew Dragon" having been regularly transporting astronauts to the ISS for some time.
