He reportedly lost his balance, fell, and was hit by a car. Preliminary investigations suggest that the unknown driver may not have been able to avoid hitting the pedestrian, who was on the right of two city-bound lanes.

After the accident, the unknown driver fled the scene without assisting the 47-year-old. He was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries to his head and pelvis following medical treatment. Witnesses are urged to contact the Kassel Police.
