- "Stable Pricing during the Summer Period" – Predictable Costs for Christmas Trees

Cost of Real Christmas Trees in Rhineland-Palatinate is predicted to remain similar this year. According to Lars Zimmermann, head of Rhineland-Palatinate Christmas tree producers' working group, speaking to German Press Agency, "We're probably gonna stay within the 21 to 29 euros per meter bracket for Nordmann fir trees." Across Germany, this can vary due to local factors.

Zimmermann added, "In urban areas, prices can differ from rural ones. Our trees are sourced from our own stockpiles in Rhineland-Palatinate." He noted that the concept of 'local' trees, meaning those from the region, is growing in popularity among customers. This can be maintained through operations in Rhineland-Palatinate.

Artificial Christmas Trees

Fortunately, drought hasn't been an issue this year. "It's been a great summer, actually." Unfortunately, young plants have suffered damage in the past two summers, which have been successfully replanted. "There won't be any shortages. Anyone looking for a Christmas tree will find one."

Zimmermann approximates the usage of artificial Christmas trees in German households at about 10%. "There are definitely some attractive ones, but there are two things to keep in mind: first, they're not exactly budget-friendly. Second, their carbon footprint is dreadful due to production."

Monoculture in Christmas tree farming is a common criticism. However, Zimmermann points out, "On the other hand, it also plays a role in carbon sequestration and provides habitat for insects, birds, and bees. It also encourages the growth of wildflower meadows. A real tree remains a piece of nature."

The German Press Agency reported on Lars Zimmermann's statement about Christmas tree pricing, stating that Nordmann fir trees in Rhineland-Palatinate will likely remain within the 21 to 29 euros per meter bracket. Later in the interview, Zimmermann mentioned that the German Press Agency, specifically, is based in Rhineland-Palatinate, where their trees are sourced from.
