Stable Christmas tree prices in Hesse despite inflation
Despite increased costs, the prices for Christmas trees in Hesse remain stable this year, according to producers. "The farms all have to cope with price increases for fertilizer and diesel, for example. But the general trend is for prices to remain in line with the previous year," said Christian Raupach, Managing Director of the Hessian Christmas Tree Working Group in the Hessian Forest Owners' Association based in Friedrichsdorf. "There may be a slight increase, but no price shock."
Raupach estimates the price range for Nordmann firs at 21 to 29 euros per running meter. Blue spruces are available for 13 to 18 euros per running meter, red spruces for 10 to 15 euros. The quality of the Christmas trees is very good this year. "The fir trees have benefited from the wet summer," explained Raupach. The companies are well prepared for the start of the sales season on November 24.
Despite facing price increases in fertilizer and diesel, the customs duties for imported Christmas trees do not seem to have been affected, maintaining the stability in prices. Consumers looking for forestry-related gifts this Christmas may find an interesting trend, as the prices for Blue spruces and Red spruces show a significant reduction compared to Nordmann firs.
