- Spouse undergoes trial in restaurant stabbing incident
A snack bar operator from Hünxe has been the focus of the Duisburg Regional Court since last Friday, following her violent demise. The woman's husband is accused by the prosecution of premediated murder for selfish reasons. During the opening of the trial, the accused remained silent regarding the accusations.
As per the indictment, the 50-year-old man allegedly sneaked into his wife's snack bar at the end of February and remained hidden until she unlocked the door. In the shop, he is alleged to have accused her of infidelity before swiftly initiating a series of stabs with a knife. The autopsy uncovered a total of 27 stab and cut wounds.

The accused was taken into custody two days after the incident, at an autobahn rest area near Münster. It's reported that he reached out to the authorities himself, disclosing his location beforehand. He's been held in custody since his arrest.
The prosecution believes that the victim was unarmed during the knife attack. It's claimed that the woman was oblivious to any impending threat on her life. Future court dates have been scheduled until late November.
The case has now been handed over to the Court of First Instance for further proceedings. On the scheduled court date, the defense attorney is expected to present their argument against the premeditated murder charge.
