Sports funding in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern to increase further

Sports funding in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is to increase further. At the 26th State Sports Day on Saturday in Gägelow (Nordwestmecklenburg district), Sports Minister Stefanie Drese (SPD) announced an increase in funding from the current 11.95 to 12.84 million euros for 2024. "Particularly in view of the difficult financial conditions, this is an increase that shows how important sport is in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern," said Drese.

The funds are included in the draft budget of the Ministry of Social Affairs, which is responsible for sport, and still have to be finally approved by the state parliament during the budget deliberations. The additional money will primarily be used to increase the state's personnel cost subsidies for full-time club trainers and sports coordinators in the state's sports associations, explained the Minister.

The proposed sports funding increase in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern aligns with the state's sports policy. The additional funds will significantly contribute to enhancing personnel cost subsidies for full-time club trainers and sports coordinators, as per the sports policy.
