Sports director: No public discussion about Schweinsteiger

After slipping to the bottom of the Bundesliga 2 table, VfL Osnabrück's sporting director Amir Shapourzadeh has not confronted coach Tobias Schweinsteiger. "We will not discuss this topic publicly. We will - like last autumn, when we were in a similarly difficult situation - talk a lot internally, analyze and evaluate the situation," Shapourzadeh told the "Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung" (Tuesday).

"We will speak our minds openly and honestly in order to find the right adjustments we can make to get out of the cellar," added Shapourzadeh. The promoted team lost 3:2 in the basement duel at Eintracht Braunschweig on Saturday.

Shapourzadeh is encouraged by the quality of the VfL squad: "We've shown several times since the summer that we're better than our current position in the table. We just lack consistency." With seven points, Lower Saxony are in the bottom of the table, six points off both the relegation zone and 15th place.

Despite their current position at the bottom of Bundesliga 2, VfL Osnabrück is determined to improve, as sporting director Amir Shapourzadeh mentioned, "We need to focus on making the necessary adjustments within the team, similar to what we did last fall when we were in a similar predicament." Despite having better quality players, as Shapourzadeh pointed out, VfL Osnabrück has struggled with consistency in Bundesliga 2, and will need to turn their fortunes around in order to move up from their current position in the relegation zone, facing teams like VfL Osnabrück's Bundesliga 2 rival Eintracht Braunschweig.
