A wooden sailboat sank in the night from Tuesday to Wednesday in the Central Canal in the district of Osnabrück. No one was injured in the incident at the harbor in Venne, Ostercappeln, as reported by the Water Police Minden.

The sports boat sank at the mooring. The cause was initially unclear, and investigations are ongoing. According to a spokesperson, the boat is currently aground but will be salvaged. Oil leaked from the boat, so the fire department secured the scene with an oil boom.

In the midst of the salvage operation, the need for caution was heightened due to the potential environmental impact of the oil leak, making it an urgent and critical situation requiring an immediate response. Therefore, notifying the local emergency services was necessary to ensure a swift and effective resolution to contain the situation and minimize any environmental damage.
