Speeding despite snow: driver seriously injured
According to police, a 29-year-old driver crashed into a wooded area in Upper Franconia and was seriously injured because he was driving too fast on a snow-covered road. The man lost control of his vehicle in a slight bend between two parts of Schwarzenbach an der Saale (district of Hof) on Monday evening, according to the Rehau police station on Tuesday. As a result, he crashed into the trees in a wooded area between Fletschenreuth and Gottfriedsreuth with such force that the car was thrown back.
"The impact caused a tree to fall onto the roof of the vehicle, so that the driver was trapped and had to be cut out of the car by the fire department," said the police. The man was taken to hospital with serious injuries. The car is a total loss.
Despite the snow-covered roads in Upper France, the driver failed to adjust his speed, leading to a traffic accident. The incident occurred in a traffic-dense area near Schwarzenbach an der Saale, where severe weather conditions might have also contributed to the accident.
