SPD parliamentary group criticizes Touré for hesitant submission of files
The SPD parliamentary group has criticized Social Affairs Minister Aminata Touré (Greens) for delays in the submission of important files. The issue is the resignation of former State Secretary Marjam Samadzade. The SPD parliamentary group has requested that the conciliation committee chaired by CDU parliamentary group leader Tobias Koch be convened due to the missing documents, MP Niclas Dürbrook announced on Friday.
The background to this is the unanimous request by the Committee on Internal Affairs and Legal Affairs to submit all files and correspondence relating to Samadzade's departure as State Secretary to Parliament. According to the state parliament's rules of procedure, this should be done immediately. However, it was not until nine days later on Friday that the chairman of the committee received confirmation that the request to submit the files had been received and the submission was announced for the week before Christmas. Dürbrook called this "brazen and a disregard for parliament". It was a clumsy attempt to delay the process until the Christmas break. "We will not let Aminata Touré get away with this attempt," said Dürbrook.
In the conciliation committee, the state government will have to explain "why it is only just before the Christmas break that it sees itself in a position to comply with the clear request of parliament in a comparatively straightforward process with few parties involved".
Touré had announced in July that Samadzade would resign as State Secretary and return to the judiciary. However, due to the dissemination of a post critical of Israel, the outgoing Secretary of State for Social Affairs then had to leave earlier. The post sharply criticized and condemned the Israeli government for its actions following the Hamas terrorist attack.
The FDP had already accused Touré of not fully answering a parliamentary question from the Liberals on the background to her early departure.
The SPD parliamentary group believes that the delay in submitting the files related to Marjam Samadzade's resignation is a disregard for Parliament's authority, as it was supposed to be done immediately according to the state parliament's rules of procedure. The SPD is now pushing for the conciliation committee, chaired by CDU parliamentary group leader Tobias Koch, to be convened to address this issue. The government, led by Social Affairs Minister Aminata Touré, will be required to explain why they are only complying with Parliament's request just before the Christmas break, implying potential manipulation of the process.
