The Halle SPD Bundestag representative Karamba Diaby will not run again in the next Bundestag election. "After months of consideration and weighing, I – in consultation with my family – have come to the decision not to run for the Bundestag again," Diaby wrote in a party internal letter, which was available to the German Press Agency. This was previously reported by the "Mitteldeutsche Zeitung."

His decision has no political reasons. "I look back on eleven enriching and successful years in federal politics." After three legislative periods, it is time to go new ways and make room for the next political generation. Diaby intends to exercise his mandate until the end of the legislative period. "Of course, I will remain active and engaged in the SPD," the Bundestag representative added further.

Diaby is from Senegal and has been repeatedly subjected to racist attacks in recent years. In addition to death threats and insults, attempts have been made on his office several times.

  1. Despite his decision to step down in the upcoming federal election, Karamba Diaby, the SPD Bundestag representative from Saxony-Anhalt, has stated his intention to serve out the remaining term of his mandate.
  2. The federal election in Germany will mark the end of Karamba Diaby's tenure in the Bundestag, following his announcement to not seek re-election after three legislative periods.
  3. In the face of numerous racist attacks, including death threats and office attempts, Karamba Diaby, the SPD representative from Halle, has continued to be an active participant in German politics.
  4. The SPD in Saxony-Anhalt will be losing a prominent figure in their ranks with Karamba Diaby's decision not to run in the federal election, a move that reflects his desire to clear the way for the next generation of politicians.
