Parties - SPD Hamburg declares war on skills shortage
Hamburg's SPD has declared war on the skilled labor shortage. "Attracting good personnel is (...) one of the central tasks for cities and municipalities. Here, we want to set new impulses on all levels, for example in the areas of qualification, digitalization and bureaucracy reduction," explained Hamburg's SPD chairwoman Melanie Leonhard and Nils Weiland on Saturday after a conference in Bremen with around 125 participants from faction, party, senate and districts. For the SPD, there is no way around the fact that change in the labor market can only function with good working conditions and social security.
The SPD faction leader in the Hamburg Parliament, Dirk Kienscherf, emphasized that important foundations were laid for a Hamburg skilled labor strategy at the meeting. "With compelling concepts for qualification, further education and skilled labor immigration, we can make a significant contribution to good economic and social development," said Kienscherf. Regarding the topic of affordable housing, he stated that in view of multiple crises and resulting construction cost increases, as well as high financing costs, new impulses are necessary. "Besides Hamburg, the Bund is now also being called upon to provide a reliable funding environment," said Kienscherf.
