SPD addresses 191 questions on women's health to the government

The SPD parliamentary group in the Schleswig-Holstein state parliament has asked the state government 191 questions about women's health. The parliamentary group's health policy spokesperson, Birte Pauls, explained the parliamentary question by saying that women are still taken less seriously in some areas of medicine and symptoms are interpreted differently than when it comes to men's health. "This can have considerable consequences. That's why it's important for us to take a closer look."

The parliamentary group's spokesperson for gender equality, Beate Raudies, explained that the everyday lives of women and girls are determined by a variety of family, professional and social demands. "Healthcare and preventative healthcare, as well as science and research, must take these special requirements into account."

In addition to general information on women in Schleswig-Holstein, the parliamentary group would like information on gynecological care, such as waiting times for appointments and bottlenecks in care. The state government should explain how it assesses inpatient gynecological care in the state. "What plans does the state government have to secure inpatient gynecological care with regard to the hospital reform?"

Further questions relate to obstetrics and in particular to the development and situation of maternity clinics. The SPD parliamentary group would like to know how the clinics and capacities are distributed among the districts and independent cities. It is also interested in the number and situation of midwives in the state. The parliamentary group is asking about abortions, fertility treatments and gynecological diseases. One complex relates to cardiovascular diseases ("What measures for the prevention of cardiovascular diseases specifically for women are available in Schleswig-Holstein and how are these financed?").

The parliamentary group also has questions on cancer, diabetes and musculoskeletal disorders. With regard to mental health, the parliamentary group would like to know, among other things: "How many women and girls are waiting for a place in therapy? How long is the average waiting time?" Eating disorders and addictions are also addressed ("What preventative measures are there specifically for girls and women in Schleswig-Holstein?"). Finally, the parliamentary group asks about gender-specific differences in training and further education in the health professions and in research.

The SPD's focus on women's health in Parliament extends beyond gynecological care, as they also inquire about cardiovascular diseases, cancer, diabetes, and mental health issues, recognizing the unique needs that women and girls have in these areas. The SPD parliamentary group also seeks information on gender-specific differences in health profession training and research, underlining their commitment to promoting equality in health care.
