Equestrian sport - Spaniard Carrascosa wins dressage freestyle in Frankfurt

The Spaniard Borja Carrascosa, who lives in Coesfeld, won the Grand Prix Freestyle dressage at the international horse show in Frankfurt am Main. The judges scored his performance on Sir Hubert with 77.525 percent on Sunday. The 41-year-old thus relegated Laura Strobel from Cappeln to second place with Valparaiso (75.875). Third place went to Maria Pais So Amaral from Portugal with Hot Hit (75.550).

Katharina Hemmer had dominated the dressage arena on the previous days. The 29-year-old won both the Grand Prix and the Special with Denoix. She had only taken over the eleven-year-old Denoix from Hubertus Schmidt, the 2004 Olympic team champion, at the beginning of the year.
