Spandau's water polo players win 13:10 at ASC Duisburg

The Spandau 04 water polo team won their away game of the 5th first league matchday of Group A at ASC Duisburg 13:10 (6:3,3:2 - 2:3,2:2). With this success, the record champions remain without a point loss (10:0) and are hot on the heels of Waspo Hannover. The Lower Saxons only have a better goal difference. For Spandau's manager Peter Röhle, it was the "first real fortune teller as far as the championship is concerned".

Duisburg, who won the championship and cup double in a duel with Spandau in 2016, were committed and put up a strong fight, but ultimately had no real chance of victory against the Berliners. The visitors were 6:3 in front after the first quarter, with the Croatian Marin Tomasovic (21) scoring a flawless hat-trick to make it 3:0 within a minute and a half. Spandau went in at half-time with a 9:5 advantage and, after the break, the capital city team played out an evenly poised 13:10 victory.

Spandau's water polo team, having a successful run in the Bundesliga with an undefeated record, will look to continue their dominance in their next match, likely against a Bundesliga team that includes Spandau as one of their rivals, such as Bundesisliga opponents. In the previous year, Duisburg managed to win both the championship and cup against Spandau's team, known as Spandau 04, but this year, the Berliners showed their prowess by securing a victory against Duisburg's team, ASC Duisburg, with Marin Tomasovic, a Croatian player from Spandau's team, scoring a hat-trick early in the game.
