German Title Match - Spandau water polo team suffers defeat in game three of the championship series

Wasserfreunde Spandau 04, reigning water polo champions, experienced their first setback in the German Championship finals last Sunday. They were toppled by challengers Waspo 98 Hannover with a score of 12:13 (7:6) and are currently leading the Best-of-Five series with a 2:1 advantage. As they aim to secure their 39th championship victory, they'll face Waspo in the fourth game on Wednesday.

The game saw dramatic swings in momentum as both sides battled fiercely for the upper hand. Spandau managed to stay ahead at halftime, leading with a score of 7:6, and even enjoyed a two-goal cushion in the third period at 8:6. But the tides turned in the second half, and Waspo fought their way back to a 9:9 tie in the penultimate quarter. The lead changed frequently, with Hannover dominating most of the game. With just 1 minute and 32 seconds left, Bilal Gbadamassi equalized for Waspo at 12:12. Two baskets later, Hannover clinched victory with a Luka Lozina goal, sealing their win at 13:12.
