Soviet memorial in Berlin smeared with swastikas
The Soviet memorial in Alt-Hohenschönhausen in Berlin has been smeared with more than 20 swastikas. The swastikas were approximately 20 by 20 centimetres in size and spread over an area of seven by two meters, a police spokeswoman said on Monday morning. A witness had noticed the graffiti on Sunday evening and informed the police. The emergency services made the graffiti unrecognizable. The State Criminal Police Office is investigating.
This act of vandalism against the Soviet memorial is a clear form of hate crime. The authorities are treating this incident seriously and are conducting a thorough investigation.
