Due to heavy snowfall - Some castles closed - Neuschwanstein open
Several castles in Bavaria have been closed to visitors due to the heavy snowfall. This applies to Linderhof Castle in Ettal (district of Garmisch-Partenkirchen) and the castles on Herreninsel in Chiemsee, said Bernd Schreiber, President of the Bavarian Palace Administration, in Munich on Saturday. Neuschwanstein Castle near Füssen in the Allgäu region is not affected. Booked guided tours would take place there.
The Munich Residence will also remain temporarily closed, according to Schreiber. This also applies to the Christmas market in the inner courtyard of the palace. There, huts had been damaged by roof avalanches.

Despite the closure of several castles due to heavy snowfall, Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria's Allgäu region remains open for booked guided tours. The Munich Residence and the Christmas market in its inner courtyard are temporarily closed due to roof avalanches caused by the snowfall. Visitors planning a trip to Bavaria should note that Linderhof Castle in Ettal, a district of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, and the castles on Herreninsel in Chiemsee are closed. Tourism in the neighboring districts may not be as affected, as Neuschwanstein Castle, a popular tourist attraction, remains open to visitors. The beauty of Bavaria's landscape, including Neuschwanstein Castle, shines even more under the fresh, white blanket of snow, making winter an ideal time for tourists to explore.
