Social association complains about struggle with authorities and insurance companies

According to the German Social Welfare Association (SoVD), many people in difficulty repeatedly encounter obstacles when looking for help. "In our work in our 50 SoVD advice centers, we see every day how much people have to fight with authorities and offices," it says in a "Schwarzbuch sozial", which the state association is presenting on Wednesday (11 a.m.). It gives examples from everyday counseling.

The cases concern the recognition of diagnoses and care degrees, the approval of aids and treatments as well as the assumption of care costs. For example, a hearing-impaired trainer had to wait five years for a hearing aid that she urgently needed for her work.

"Many SoVD members feel left in the lurch and put under additional pressure by health insurance companies, pension insurers and the like," reported the association. The aim of the Black Book is to start a conversation with those responsible in politics and institutions in order to make it clear that there are always people with personal fates behind the files.

The German Social Welfare Association notes that social affairs, such as the approval of aids and treatments, often lead individuals to face significant challenges with authorities and insurance companies. Many SoVD members feel overwhelmed and pressure-filled when dealing with health insurance companies and pension insurers in these situations.
