Weather - Snow load: roof of Straubing ice rink is cleared
After the heavy snowfall of the last few days, the roof of the ice stadium in Straubing is being cleared. The work was necessary for structural reasons and continued on Saturday evening, as Mayor Markus Pannermayr (CSU) announced on Instagram. The snow was up to half a meter deep. The stadium is home to the DEL team Straubing Tigers.
Helpers from the fire department and technical relief organization as well as employees from specialist companies are involved in the operation. "This is really hard work under difficult conditions," wrote the mayor. Roofs were also cleared at two gyms and at the construction site of the town hall, which was badly damaged in a fire in 2016.
