Weather - Snow and single-digit temperatures in North Rhine-Westphalia
In the coming days, people in North Rhine-Westphalia will have to prepare for continued low temperatures and snow. On Sunday, the German Weather Service (DWD) reported that the sky would initially be partly cloudy. In East Westphalia and in the Rothaargebirge mountains, it will snow a little in the morning. Otherwise, it could become locally slippery due to freezing rain.
From the late afternoon, clouds gathering from the west will finally bring snow to the whole of North Rhine-Westphalia, according to the DWD. The maximum temperatures will be 1 degree in the east of the state and 4 degrees in the west; in the higher mountain regions, meanwhile, there will be light permafrost at minus 2 degrees. In addition, there will be a weak to moderate wind, the DWD wrote, with strong gusts possible in some areas.
The new week will begin with lots of clouds. On Monday afternoon, snow will again move in from the west, but this will change to rain in the far west of North Rhine-Westphalia in the evening. Temperatures will remain similar to the weekend. There will also be a weak wind, with individual strong gusts possible at high altitudes.
On Tuesday, the sky over North Rhine-Westphalia will be cloudy to overcast. It could rain again and again; in the mountains, the rain could also turn into sleet. According to the DWD, temperatures will be somewhat milder with highs of 6 degrees in the west and 4 degrees in the east. In ridge locations, the thermometer will show 0 degrees. The wind is weak.
