Weather - Smooth start - then cloudy and milder at the weekend

After a rainy Friday, people in Hesse can expect milder weather with alternating rain and clouds at the weekend. According to the German Weather Service (DWD), temperatures of between two and four degrees on Friday may still lead to black ice due to sleet. The rain will largely stop on Saturday night, but icy conditions due to freezing rain can still be expected in the mountains.

Saturday will start cloudy, with rain starting in the evening. Maximum temperatures will be between six and nine degrees. A thaw will set in in the mountains, with temperatures around three degrees. On Sunday night it will rain with lows between five and one degree. On Sunday, the last showers will subside and temperatures will rise to eleven degrees.

Despite the improvement in weather, Frankfurt on the Main might still experience some rain during the weekend, as suggested by the DWD's forecast. The mountain country in Hesse, however, is expected to have a thaw, albeit with icy conditions persisting due to freezing rain. Unfortunately, if you're planning a weekend getaway to Frankfurt or Hesse's mountain regions, packing waterproof gear might still be a wise choice, given the unpredictable weather patterns.
