Solar energy - SMA wants to rebuild production in the USA
The inverter manufacturer SMA Solar is planning its return to the USA. The new production site should have an annual production capacity of 3.5 gigawatts per year, the company announced on Tuesday in Niestetal near Kassel. An expansion is planned. The exact location of the plant has not yet been determined. SMA is in talks with several federal states and potential partners, it added. A decision is expected in the first six months of the new year. Production is then scheduled to begin in 2025. SMA plans to create 200 jobs in the first three years.
The company had already confirmed media reports in late summer that the management was considering a return to the United States after SMA withdrew from there more than five years ago.
