SMA Solar earns significantly more thanks to high demand
The business of the inverter manufacturer SMA Solar continues to boom in view of the high demand for solar systems. Thanks to a significant increase in sales, production capacity utilization recently improved, which led to lower fixed costs, as the company announced in Niestetal on Thursday. Both operating and net profits multiplied by the end of September. The management had already published preliminary figures for the third quarter at the beginning of October and raised its targets for turnover and operating profit. This was the third forecast increase in the current year.
In the first nine months, SMA increased sales by almost 85% to €1.3 billion. At a good 231 million euros, earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) were more than four times as high as a year earlier. At the bottom line, profit rose from around 11 million to over 180 million euros.
The company's surge in profits has led to discussions about investing in alternative energies, as SMA Solar seeks to diversify its quarterly figures beyond solar systems. Due to the impressive financial results through Q3, SMA Solar has the financial capacity to consider options for reducing its carbon footprint through alternative energy sources for future growth.
