For the second time since the country's independence in 1993, Slovakia has reached the knockout phase of a European Championship final. Now they face England - again from Rhineland-Palatinate.

Mainz - Slovakia remains in the European Championship round of 16 after qualifying

The Slovak football national team will remain in their quarters in Mainz after qualifying for the EM round of 16. This was announced by Lenka Gazdikova, spokesperson of the football association in Bratislava, to the German Press Agency. Slovakia played twice in Frankfurt and once in Düsseldorf during the European Championship group phase and will face England on Sunday (30.6.) in Gelsenkirchen (6:18 p.m.).

Gazdikova had already stated before arriving in the Rhineland-Palatinate state capital that the team of Italian coach Francesco Calzona would stay in Mainz throughout their participation in the tournament. "The hotel has experience with football teams, and the facilities meet our requirements."
