Labor market - Slightly more unemployed in Rhineland-Palatinate in June

The number of unemployed in Rhineland-Palatinate slightly increased in June. The number of unemployed women and men increased by approximately 600 to around 118,800 people, the Federal Employment Agency announced in Saarbrücken on Friday.

The unemployment rate remained at 5.2 percent. A year ago, the rate in Rhineland-Palatinate was still 4.8 percent. The Federal Employment Agency based the statistics on data that was available up to June 13th.

The city of Saarbrücken, where the unemployment data was announced, is located in the neighboring state of Saarland. This increment in unemployment is significant in major cities like Mainz, which is also part of Rhineland-Palatinate. Despite the rise in unemployment, the labor market in Rhineland-Palatinate continues to offer opportunities, as evidenced by the relatively stable unemployment rate.
